ITINERARY
DAY 1 LA PAZ – COPACABANA (L)
The pickup is from your hotel, the bus ride is approx. 4 hrs. After to get Copacabana, the first place to visit will be the Cathedral, well known as the most important religious center of the Andes, the contrast of colors in the local market, the good smelly street food, and the indigenous people running up and down in the streets, make Copacabana a unique destination, walking along the colorful town’s streets you’ll stop in an authentic restaurant to taste delicious local meals.
In the afternoon, you’ll visit the famous Calvario, (an easy 40min. walk) the view from the top is breathtaking; the sunsets on the lake make of this trip a unique experience.
Copacabana by night offers to the visitors a huge variety of restaurants and menus, you’re free to choose the best option for you.
DAY 2 COPACABANA – SUN ISLAND (B,L,D)
An early wake up to catch the sunrise over the Lake Titicaca it’s a very good option. After, you’ll have a delicious breakfast so, the boat’s ride is 1 hr. heading Sun Island (north part) which is a sacred place where the Inka Empire was born and also you will be able to appreciate the Inka ruins and the most impressive thing is the stone labyrinth-like that connects rooms and corridors.
It’s time to visit Yumani (south part of the Island), is known for its beautiful terraced gardens and Inka’s staircase. Climb the ancient stone steps to reach the fountain of Youth, a sacred spring believed to have rejuvenating properties. In this village you’ll enjoy a yummy local lunch while admiring the panoramic views of Lake Titikaka, then you’ll walk 40min. to get your accommodation. As the day winds down, you will see a beautiful Sunset from the highest view point on the island and capture the magical moments and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Coming back to the hostel a tasty and hot dinner will be waiting for you.
DAY 3 SUN ISLAND – MOON ISLAND – COPACABANA – LA PAZ (B)
After the morning meal, it’s time to continue the adventure heading the Moon Island visiting the Temple of the Virgins, an ancient Inka temple ruin that served as a spiritual retreat and residence for the chosen priestesses, also was served as a site for the training of young priestesses. The combination of the lake, mountains, and the island’s natural beauty makes it a picturesque location for photography and enjoying the stunning landscapes before come back to Copacabana.
The boat ride from Moon Island to Copacabana takes around 1hrs. Once you reach Copacabana, you’re going to have a free time to keep exploring the place.
